Today the excavator began digging the trench for the power. He started at the house location and is working back to the power lines. He got a later start today than he was supposed to and did not get but 1/5th of the length dug. He should have and I was hoping for between 50% and 80%. Oh well, what can you do? Guess I could go out with a shovel and do some myself.That took me all of one millionth of a second to decide otherwise. 
Here is a picture of the trench. The depth is deceiving. I could stand in the ditch and barely see over the dirt piled up on the left side.
So, to the subject of the blog. It is hard to see a 200′ trench without the kid in you coming up with some imaginative ways to take advantage of it. A moat. Yeah, that would be cool!
To follow-up on the mailbox situation, we got our first mail today!!! Sad to say there were not any letters from anyone. I am glad to say no bills either. Guess it is a wash. We got a card from the post office to fill out and return and an add for the local general store.
